Addicts: You have a right to know what to expect from the Counseling field, particularly if you are paying for your Treatment.  Even if you are funded in some way, you have the same rights as anyone else.  You can have reasonable expectations as with a doctor, during an episode of treatment, but there is no promise of outcome & should not be one.  A list of your rights is guaranteed by most States through their Agency that oversees Treatment.  Families should also know this!

"Being Naturally Therapeutic"
This should be the Goal of every Care-Giver/Counselor!
It is difficult to teach at a University.  It is sometimes learned on the Job.
It CAN, and often is, learned by observing someone who is Naturally Therapeutic!
The Truth is… that very often, it is a character trait that you either have or do not have!
This is the essence of those who have the characteristic.  They are always concrete, honest, and
dependable.  These three things culminate into a bond of trust, between the counselor and the recipient of their
care-giving.  Being concrete leaves no question as to where one stands with you.  Being honest makes one safe to believe
what you say to them.  And, being dependable leaves no fear of being let down or disappointed for placing their trust in you.

Roy Kelton Orbison (April 23, 1936 - December 6, 1988) was an American singer-songwriter, best known for his distinctive, powerful voice, complex compositions, and dark emotional ballads. His greatest success came with Monument Records between 1960 and 1964, when 22 of his songs placed on the Billboard Top Forty, including "Only the Lonely", "Crying", and "Oh, Pretty Woman". His life was marred by tragedy, including the death of his first wife and his two eldest sons in separate accidents. In 1988, he joined the supergroup Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne. He died of a heart attack in December that year, at the zenith of his resurgence. Rolling Stone placed Orbison at number 37 on their list of "The Greatest Artists of All Time", and number 13 on their list of "The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time." I believe that he was Number One, period!  Go to: A BLACK & WHITE NIGHT--ROY ORBISON
